In which Terra is the last hope for the Returners.
There is absolutely nothing special between Sabin and this cave in the Sabil Mountains that you haven't seen before. |
This story Banon tells is based on the story of Pandora. |
A rather obvious one at that. |
However, there are things he didn't quite get right. The box was really a jar, and Hope could be considered a mistranslation of the ability to see the future and closing the jar before it was released amongst humanity kept humanity from dying of despair. Another version of the myth says she left hope in the jar as a form of torture. |

There are other things here, a wind elemental Air Lancet for Locke, a white cape, and some other junk that you should probably get. |
Someone dropped a scrap of paper here. Leaving it there makes Banon notice and Terra laughs at him for some reason. This happens if you keep declining Banon's request. |
Of course, somoene staggers in with a message and a knife in his back, and Terra doesn't have much of a choice. |
Locke went back to South Figaro, but you get his stuff. |
And you get Banon! But you can't name him, as you can tell by the all caps. Or change his equipment. You were, of course, planning to rob him because you knew that being unable to name him meant that he was a temporary character. Here's what you aren't getting: Punisher, Magus Hat, Silk Robe. |
Jump on the raft and make sure you know how to get back here. Banon, by the way: Advantages: Pray (or heal because religious references are forbidden!) is free healing. It's ok, but it's free and it keeps him busy and your other characters on the offense. Disadvantages: If he dies, that's a game over. You can't revive him or anything. He can't die if he's turned to stone. The only way to do this is to level Terra up to 68, where she gains Break. By then, you shouldn't have any problems keeping Banon alive. Arbitrary Coolness Rating: 3 |

Pterodons are those blue pterosaurs that use Wing to inflict seizure and fireball to hit all the targets. Good thing you have a noise blaster. Exocite is a crab-scorpion thing that shares the name of a company that chose the name because it sounded powerful, like excelsior or something, and attacks Banon every 6 turns. Like you're going to give some punkass crab 6 turns. Nautiloid is a nautilus that I neglected to screenshot. He uses ink to blind you. If you get blinded, it makes you look stupid. Use the eyedrops if you don't like it, or just wait until you need a tent to get rid of it. ItŐs harmless, just unappeaing. Sell eyedrops if you want. This isn't Final Fantasy XII, though. If it was, blind would be more than a mere annoyance (it actually does what it's supposed to) and money would actually be a problem. He also has high defense and inherent safe and he'll attack Banon every 3 turns. |

Uwee hee hee Game over! It's Uncle Ulty, everyone's favorite octopus in the Final Fantasy series. I mean, who else is there? Octomammoth doesn't do anything noteworthy and neither does Tros. |
Delicious morsel! He targets Terra when he says that. Y you frighten me! causes an attack on Banon. Why Banon frightens him is beyond me, but it's a Bad Thing anyway. Maybe it was meant to be directed at Edgar. |
Yaaooouch! He counters with ink and makes you look dumb if you attack with fire. |
Obviously, he's going after Sabin. Sabin shrugs it off, for he is Sabin, the strongest man in the world! Oh, sure, Edgar can do more damage, but that's with tools and Terra can do more damage later on with magic, but Sabin is doing the damage with his bare hands and some claws for elemental damage. |
And so ends the battle. Sabin goes after Uncle Ulty. |
