Chapter XXVIII

In which Relm rescues Strago and heads to the opera house, where they disrupt a dragon's enjoyment of La Boheme.

Go to the Tower of Fanatics and recover Strago, who's been marching around in circles for the last year. Only Relm can snap him out of his trance.

No thanks to you.

Everybody else continues to march around.

In my day, characters really died.

Imagine him in Final Fantasy XII. In my day, they called that spell white and there was to be no reference to religions. Or maybe imagine him in X, saying that in his days, summoners were useless. You young'uns and your gamestations and X-cubes. In my day, video games had two colors. In fact, the world was in two colors back then, it just so happened that all the paintings magically turned in to colors, and artists were crazy so we just accepted it.

"I'll be back at the airshps had huge propellors on top and there were no such things as dinosaurs." "Really, Gramps, I thought dinosaurs ruled the Earth back then." "No, only Ceres."

Talk to the thieves.

Or you can cheat and use the Moogle Charm. Where's the strategy in that? I'll tell you. Nowhere!

It goes on like this for a long time. We won't be clmbing to the top, I just want to show you something.

These guys are L.30 Magic. They lack reflect, are weak to pearl, and cast level 2 spells. Note that only the Magic command is useable. All skills are gone except for the item one. No blue magic, no tools, just magic.

Let's visit Lola... what a liar.

And she even admits it.

Well, no more than everyone else, in retrospect.

Cyan tells Lola to look to the future. This is a lot like that part where Rydia tells Spoony Bard not to cry.

We're going to do some stuff with Strago and Relm!

No, we're not hunting Hidon yet. That will wait for the next chapter.

First, we're going to get an Imp Halberd from the dinosaurus rexus forest (beware of brachiosaurs). This can be traded for the Cat Hood at the colosseum, if you beat an Allosaurus (a Jurassic dinosaur who's name means Strange Lizard and is capable of using Doom). This is about as hard as that battle against the Ice Dragon earlier. Reflect the doom spell if you want to. It may or may not work.

Then we're going to get some Lores. Cactrot has blow fish and wil use it. Aero is used by harpies and harpiais. Aero's good, so get it. Muus use pep up, so don't sketch them. Mad Oscar teaches Sour Mouth, which sets imp as well as other things, but doesn't change the sprite. Big Guard is safe and shell on everyone no matter what and can be learned by quickly sketching an Earth Guard. This may take multiple tries. Rippler can be learned from Reach Frogs, for those situations where you want Strago or someone else to have a doggy or you accidentally let Shadow get rippled. To give it back to Shadow, take it from the monster with Strago and then ripple Shadow to give him his doggy. Interceptor will thank you for it.

We're not going at all. We're doing some other stuff first!

One of the dragons is an opera aficionado.

He looks like a Tyrannosaur that ate some green smarties, and uses battle, Honed Tusk, quake, Magnitude 8, 50 G and Slide. Wearing Gaia Gear helps a lot. 50 Gs makes you drop to the ground like a 4 ton weight if you're floating, which is inessential if you're wearing Gaia Gear. He's weak to wind and water.

There are people at the opera house watching this. I think Dancho just got a bunch of wax figures.

For your troubles, you get a Magus Rod.

And we're now ready to go after Hidon!
