Chapter XXI

In which I was just kidding! It's not the end! Concerning Celes being stuck on an island with Cid and my new choice in colors for the title.

It's not really the end, but it is the end of high prices, not being able to get certain items and spells without the assistance of Ragnarok, and a normal looking world. Seriously, you can get Seraphim for 10 gil somewhere. Kefka disrupting the statue caused some palette swaps, as I'd be lying if I said I regularly a purple and yellow sky with yellow clouds and a purple-brown ocean in everyday life.

On this island is an dilapidated house. There are plenty of those in real life. People like to write things like "KILL YOURSELF" and "I want to be meeeee!" on them to enhance the creepy factor.

"You could really use a bath." "You too."

You talked non-stop, like a parrot of the sea, you were.

Not the others, of course. A few squirrels and some dinosaur fossils that came to life.

I mean, this could be the only island left.

Well, there's no food left.

It never says who those others are, but I'm going to assume they're unimportant. Shadow can die, but only if you didn't wait for him.

I don't want to know. Cid doesn't either. I don't really think anyone wants to raise children in this world anyway.

Welp, better find a way off this island. Make sure to equip some stuff, as you have nothing on you at the moment. Include the ribbon (or an amulet if you somehow left the World of Balance without a ribbon), because if a monster zombifies you, that's Game Over for you. Remember, you're soloing as Celes. If you have Kutan instead, prepare for a really tough time, but I'm assuming you've played this before and you know how exactly how long before you can let Kutan collect dust and exactly where he's collecting dust.

But first, let's get some food for Cid. There are four kinds of fish. A slow moving Fish that decreases his health by 16, a medium-speed Rotten Fish that decreases his health bar by 4, a medium-speed Fish that increases his health by 16, and a fast moving Yummy Fish that increases his health bar by 32. Once you have a fish, you're stuck with it. Every second that passes causes his health to decrease by 1. 30 means he's going to be All Dead, 256 means you've saved him. I chose to save him, since I've never done it before. He doesn't have anything in his pockets.

As you can see, you gain absolutely nothing from doing this except for satisfaction and a much less emo git Celes. It's very time-consuming as well. You get some irony if Cid dies, as Celes goes to the cliff to take a leap of joy (read: suicide). I actually like that act of censorship. Then she finds a bandana and concludes that Locke's alive. Because of a bandana. Yeah.

Nothing on this forsaken island. Let's take a chance with that raft on the open ocean, drifting along until we find something else... like monsters.

Chitonid uses his carapace to damage you, and will sneeze you out of the battle as a counter if he's alone. He's paired with a

Gigantoad. They have rippler, but they can't use it. Croak does damage and slimer makes you slow. Ribbons prevent that.

Lunaris is a wolf. He'll use bite to blind you, but not inflict damage. I'd say that makes Celes hard-core, but it happens to everyone else as well.

Osprey uses beak on its third turn, so make sure you have a ribbon or something to protect against petrify, and he'll also uses Shimsham if you cast a spell on it.

Mesosaur is a small dinosaur who's named for the first aquatic reptile. It lived during the Permian and looked like an alligator. These ones use T. Lash to cause seizure.

If not alone, they'll escape from the battle. Gilomantis uses fight unless targeted by fight himself, where he uses sickle to inflict more damage.

BlackDrgn is a skeleton that came to life that I mentioned earlier. On their first turn, they'll use Sand Storm, on the second, they'll use BonePowder. Life spells instakill him, and when all you have is Celes, you'll want to use that. They hang out on the initial island, but you never have to encounter them.

EarthGuard is a trilobite or maybe a horseshoe crab. They have 1 HP, inherent seizure status, and I figure this was intentional. He has PoisonTail as an attack and a Megalixir as a steal.

Peepers are nothing but rats with fluffy tails! Sabin, if he was around, can not suplex them. Like EarthGuard, Peeper is dying slowly. They'll use fight, tail, or pearl wind if they somehow take a turn, but they don't have the MP to use Pearl Wind, so instead, they just die. Peepers has an elixir as a steal.

Someone in Albrook mentions a man with the same glimmer of hope in his eyes, and that's all it has going for it. Vector's gone, and there's a tower where it stands that you can not get in to. Maranda drifted somewhere else. You don't have to go into Tzen if you don't want to. In fact, I don't suggest it if you have Kutan, as you have to do stuff. Stuff invovling monsters. And you have to do it quickly. Just wait. Upon entering Tzen, Kefka will use his Light of Judgment to inflict divine punishment on the sinners who defy him. There's a child in one of the houses, but never fear, Sabin, the Strongest Man in the World is here.

Unfortunately, you have to solo a bit longer as Celes to do this part. You have six minutes.

Scorpions have insane magic defense. They'll use DoomSting to set a countdown over your head and then attack. If you die from Condemned, you were probably screwed anyway. Black belts help, as you'll counter. Basically, they're there to slow you down.

PM Stalker is a spectre that fused itself with Encephalon in order to stalk from beyond the grave and has the power to use drain and negate your vanish.

Hermit crabs can shoot nets to stop you and waste time on their first turn and rock to petrify you when he's alone and damaged by you. This includes killing everything with a multitarget attack.

Rescue the kid and make sure you have time to get out. Do not use a save state here or you will be very sorry. I messed up and had to start over from the banquet last year, and missed the intangir because I was in such a hurry. This time, as mentioned, I missed the doberman. I can't seem to get a complete rage list.

Once you get out, Sabin does the pose and joins you.
