In which Celes and Locke make their way to Vector with the assistance of Setzer.
Don't go. I want to see how it ends. |
If Sabin was around, he'd say his brother was the king of Figaro, making it a redundant redundancy from Sabin who is the brother of the King of Figaro and also the strongest man in the world. |
You needn't worry about your reward. If money is all that you love, then that's what you'll receive. |
"Your friend is quite the mercenary. I wonder if he really cares about anything. Or anybody." Locke says "I care." He's in a snit now that Celes and Setzer are talking marriage (it's like a game boy only you marry the game boy) and if he had godlike powers, everyone would be getting a meter of snow dumped on them. |
To settle this, Celes figures that since Setzer loves gambling, she'd challenge him to a coin toss. Locke allows it since he'll be able to steal furniture from the reception hall. She loses, and she gets dragged down the aisle. She wins, and Setzer helps out against the Empire. |
And just like in a real casino, he's been swindled. |
And running a casino, he appreciates it. He also wonders why his coin from The Coin Toss Table is gone and glares at Locke. Locke pockets a deck of cards. |
"I had stuff but SOMEONE stole it." |
"You're taking that thing? You're braver than I thought." |
The Imperial City of Vector is not to scale. |
Go to Albrook and go in the bar. You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. |
That becomes important. Someone else mentions that he's doing a portrait of the Emperor. Another scholar mentions that the monsters on this continent have very weak magical power, and to that I say snork. |
Joker is the reason I say snork to that scholar. Snork, I say. He uses Acid Rain and Bolt 2, is immune to Magnitude 8, and carries an umbrella, which means he probably only watched some clips from Alyas: Batman en Robin and got the Joker and the Penguin confused. Siren's useful here. Ralph, which I believe is an absurd name for a genetically-engineered magitek-infused armored guard dog, he just sort of attacks. There's a Tiger Mask you can steal from him that Sabin and Gau can wear. I guess they pt it on him to make him threatening and negate that whole Ralph thing. |
This is Acid Rain in action. April O'Neil is immune to it, but you're not April O'Neil. |
Someone forgot to tick off "floating" when programming Wyvern. He looks like he should be flying, but he's not. They use Cyclonic to strip away all but 1/16 of everyone's health. Don't let them do that; drill their ass. ChickenLip uses quake when alone. Their rage also uses quake. My friend tried it and got a game over. Not fun. You may or may not have Float by now, but if you do, use it and Quake can't do squat. |
WeedEaters are drugged out Crasshoppers that are red. They can berserk you, but they don't get a chance. |
This is Tzen. Even more boring than Nikeah, if you can believe it. Maranda's even worse, as it doesn't have an item shop and nobody recognizes Celes. |
Commandos have a tent to steal, can execute Program 65 to silence a target, and are weak to lightning. This makes them a robot, unlike simply thinking you're a robot. Locke thinks he's a treasure hunter, but he's still a thief. Like all enemies here, they have obscenely high defense. Good thing drill ignores defense. Did you know that? I bet you didn't. |
ProtoArmor does not have a rage, even though you can meet him on the Veldt. ProtoArmor will use Tek Laser, missile, launcher, schiller to blind (or do nothing) and Program 35, which deals physical damage, like it needed a program to do that. Mega Armor has Metal Punch. |
I don't know why either. Someone forgot to explain Celes' reasoning. The game acts like it was because of Doma, but she wasn't sure if that was true. Fun Fact: Celes is a genus of grasshopper. Saturn Moths do not eat them; instead, there prefer heather. If you don't get it, go read some Roman myths. Irrelevant fact: There's a Persephone Moth as well. |
Garms are cybernetic attack dogs. They have Program 95, which causes confuse, but only if they're alone. |
Pipsqueaks are robots that are numerous and belligerent, but weak. They can execute Program 55 to turn a target into an Imp. Imp, by the way, is a bit like Toad in some of the early games. You're piss-weak and can only cast Imp. If you had some equipment, though... nah. |
Other things Vector features are an inn where the keeper will rob you; at least he doesn't claim to be a treasure hunter, an outhouse where you fight two Narshe guards and can rest for free, while laying in bed all night wondering what the hell Narshe guards are doing here, and there's a kid who can heal you by 1 HP, even when you're knocked out. If you gain the HP, you're stlll knocked out. Weird. And no item shop. |
Ayla no like lie. |
He threw up on my uniform! |
You've seen it all, but this is Ramuh in action. He looks really fricking cool but costs 25 MP, while Gau can use lightning 2 for free. |
